Busy Weekend!!!

Friday we were at the town house painting and trying to get it ready to rent. This picture was taken close to 2am. Joanna was surprised how much energy she had. I think it was close to 2:30 when we finished for the night and planned to go back Saturday. (I guess at that time it was just later on that day)

Joanna fell asleep when we got home and I made it to bed about 3:30...

About 5:30am Joanna woke me up and said she thought her water might have broken. She was paranoid about it happening in bed, the car, or at work so there were plenty of towels around, and the towels she had in bed were a little wet. We called the Dr., and were told to come on in. So this next picture was just before 7am, with 3 hours of sleep, on the way out the door.
We got to the hospital at 7:30 and they checked and said she definatly was in labor.
They hooked her up to the monitors and we started the waiting game.

The birthing room was massive. It would have made for a much better room when people came to visit. The one we were moved into after the birth was tiny compared to this one.

Joanna's process was slow, so they put her on pitocin to speed things up. They checked her off and on, and around 4 the Dr. said she was at 5 cm, and should increase by 1 cm every 2 hours, that sometime between 12 and 2am she should be ready. I told Al and Ali that there was no need to rush back in so they could get some things done.

We both fell asleep...

I woke up at 6:15 to the Dr saying "Oh, you're ready! Get a table set up this baby is coming."

I called Allan and said I think it's happening now.

Well by 6:45, after about 20 pushes, Karli Jo was born.

The next few pictures need no explanation, She is the cutest baby ever!

I guess they had been pretty busy the week we had Karli, so it wasn't until early AM Sunday that we were moved into our new room. I said we were fine in the birthing room, but I guess they needed it... That's too bad, because we could have used the space when everyone came to visit.

It was mostly standing room only. Aaron kept telling Joanna that she was hogging the bed.

Fun yesterday, sore today!

Allan was watching some wakeboarding, and air chair videos the other day. He noticed that they have their rope out further, and ride faster than what we have been doing. So yesterday at the lake he legthened the rope as far as it would go and we drove around faster. I didn't mind the speed so much, it was the crashing that hurt.

West Virginia Rafting Trip - Middle and Upper Gauley River

Here we are preparing our dinner after our first day of rafting. We made tinfoil dinners with hamburger, chicken, bacon, potatoes, onions, and carrots. It was delicious!

The guy in white is our guide from the 2nd day (Upper Gauley) - his name is Jon Turton. He was the man! We got his card and plan on requesting him next time we go.

You always gotta do this pose. I started this early on in my childhood, and I'm still rockin' it, although it looks like Allison was a little more enthusiastic this time.

Here is our little group after we finished all of our rafting. We are all in one piece with no major injuries. Allison had a bruised nose and Wesley had a fat lip, but that's pretty much it.

Aaron was nice enough to drive his giant family vehicle up there. The little trailer hitched to the back didn't stay on the whole way home. After driving about 50 miles on the way home, it fell off and slid across two lanes and hit the guardrail going about 80 miles an hour. So we turned around and went back for it. Nothing fell off and the cooler only sustained a minor scrape. Come to find out, it was never pinned in that morning. So it's amazing it stayed on as long as it did.

Here are some pictures from the Lower Gauley trip we did on the first day. There are some Class 3 and 4 rapids, and a couple of Class 5, but not as many as in the Upper Gauley that we did the 2nd day. It was REALLY cold, so we had wet suits. The water was about 50 degrees and the air temperature was about 65. It was cloudy and a little rainy. So the wet suits were very nice to have.

Is that terror or excitement???These guides were a little more laid back than the guide on the Upper Gauley. We got flipped twice and half of us got flushed out another time when the right side of the raft was high-sided up on a rock. So it was pretty fun and slightly scary.

Our guides asked us if we like to swim. Aaron thought they asked if we knew HOW to swim. So he said, "YES!" So...we swam a few times. Come to find out that our guides were planning on flipping us, because even the videographer was talking about it.

We've already been dumped twice at this point, so it's understandable that Aaron was holding on for dear life up front. Meanwhile, we pull some pretty sweet faces in some of these pictures.

Here are the pics from the Upper Gauley that we ran the 2nd day. This one is more difficult and considered some of the best rapids in the world...so we were told. It was awesome, and we can't wait to go again (hopefully next year).
